CHECK OUT - GOALTIMATE:
Goaltimate Tournament Summary
June 19-20, 1999 in San Diego
(by Brandon Steets)
Condors came in 3rd overall... that's $1,000 for them. Among the teams that seemed new at the sport, they came in first. Pretty good show, in my opinion. San Diego won the big purse, $30K, as expected. They just clobbered teams. They played awesome together, and just seemed to make defenses look silly near the goal. Boston ("the founders") came in second, earning $2,500. They played this zone near the goal that really baffled teams. The condors played them tight, but had trouble with the zone too, and lost to them in the semis.
I played on the second SB team, "the Tarheels." We pretty much lost all our games; we hadn't been playing the game for long enough. It was me, Jay, Cones, Buzz (dude from Co), Rickydude, John Flandrick, and Mario. Overall the tourney was a blast. We were given great clothes from Gaia, and dinner and breakfast was catered. Plus champagne. We were treated like a polo club.
