Santa Barbara Ultimate
25th Reunion
Comments
Dear TK, Bart, T.Shep., Laura Shep., Mrs. Sheperd,
Bob G., John Keough, Michele P., Cindy B., and all the others
who helped on the Reunion:
I have been to numerous retreats, seminars, weddings,
parties, brawls, etc. over the years at a variety of locations
(hotels, convention centers, and private estates) sponsored by
major corporations, professional organizations, etc. and they
all pale in comparison to the incredible three day event you
hosted this last weekend.
The entire reunion was so well planned and executed,
it is difficult to highlight two or three things that made it
so special. First of all, the settings were unparalleled. We
not only had a beautiful facility in the foothills with perfect
fields, swimming pool, golf course, and eating areas; we also
had a second venue that is priceless: beach front property with
camping, picnic area, sand, and the Pacific Ocean. Secondly,
the variety and number of activities was nearly overwhelming.
The kids (and adults) had to choose between swimming, basketball,
Astro jump, golf, Ultimate, and all the other disc activities.
There was never a dull moment and my family and I ran until we
dropped each night, only to return for more the next day. In
addition, the food and beverage service was top-of-the-line.
The variety and quality of food provided was beyond expectations.
And the attention to detail (e.g. red checkered table cloths
on the lawn, microbrew quality grog, brunch on Sunday AM) was
much appreciated.
However, what really made it an event to remember
is the people. It was unbelievable to see so many old friends
that I hadn't seen in 20 years and be able to immediately re-connect
on many levels. I knew during my playing years that it is a special
group of individuals that gravitate towards the disc sports,
but forgot how magical it can be when a group of like-minded,
caring individuals get together to simply have fun. That magic
was there for the three days and I am especially glad my children
got to participate and share in the good vibes. They came away
with an appreciation of the kind of positive energy that can
be generated by a group of such high energy individuals. So I
want to especially thank all of the people who planned and worked
before, during, and after this event for one of the best weekends
ever.

Dear Joe,
My name is Jim Turner, aka Turnbuckles or Turnfat if you must.
I think I can safely say that everyone I spoke to during the
weekend were very happy with the location, the food (and drink),
and organization of the event. Thank goodness there was a pool.
I 'm still waiting for the swim relay. I know the points weren't
totaled, but I've got to believe THE GREEN TEAM came out on top.
Lastly, I hope everyone thanked the people involved in putting
the event together, especially TK and TShep. If there is any
shortfall in covering the expenses for the weekend, an e-mail
should go out to everyone asking for some additional greenbacks
to cover the shortfall. And lastly, thank you for all your hard
work and time spent on organizing this great web site. Sincerely,
Jim Turner
Joe-
Just wanted to let you know that all of your research and work
compiling stories and history went a LONG way toward my enjoying
that fabulous reunion weekend. I think almost every person I
met had either read a story about or seen their picture or at
least recognized their name. Without all of the background and
history that you have gathered and made available to us, many
of the folks I met this weekend would have just been kind of
unknown people to me. Knowing the names and stories and history
made the experience much more meaningful, wholesome and enjoyable
for me. So........... THANK YOU JOE!! Have a great time in Europe.
C U later,
