Reason for playing ultimate:
After playing all of the sports available to humans, I could only find one that required the highest level of all around skill and athleticism that was seamlessly packaged with an incredible community of friends.
|
When and where started playing ultimate:
Started playing 'three flies up' and ultimate when I was 13 at Camp Swig (summer camp in Saratoga mountains). Never played a 'regulation game' until my first year at UCSB.
|
Lessons learned playing ultimate:
Short term memory has its advantages.
When in doubt, huck it.
Positive is always better than negative.
The team I play with usually wins.
Having support makes all the difference!
|
Personal comment:
Being a part of the tradition, community, and success that Tom 'TK' Kennedy and many others helped to create over 25 years ago for Santa Barbara is the Ultimate prize!
|
Noteworthy:
Longest 'continuously playing' member of the team. He may have been the fastest player in the sport. And his father was on the UPA Board of Directors.
