Friday Night Dinner

Marcia asked the team if they wanted another home cooked meal Friday night, and they said yes. They also wanted the women Condors to be there too. So Marcia worked her magic again like the year before. She made a list of what food and drinks were needed for 50 people and assigned Carolyn & David Savage and Joe what to get at the grocery store. So the 4 of us descended on Publix, all took carts, and 30 minutes later had 4 full carts of food, drinks and supplies.

The Savage's car filled with the supplies

At the Condors' condo, Marcia quickly got people working in both kitchens. While most of the team was either sleeping or at the beach, two Condors really pitched in: Steve Dugan and Blake Garnand (with an honorable mention to Andy, James and Ted). Steve washed and peeled veggies and prepared the salad for 50 (about a one hour job). Then Blake started the grill and BBQ'ed the chicken (another one hour job). Without their help, dinner would have been very late.

Sleeping beauty

While Marcia made the pasta sauce, Diane Steets helped in the kitchen, and her mother (Brandon's grandmother) made all of the pasta. She worked in the 2nd kitchen boiling water and testing the pasta for over an hour. She was a real trouper, especially with her 79th birthday coming up.

The result was a great time by all.

We also celebrated Steve's upcoming birthday

On the Field

Every morning Marcia & Joe Seidler and Carolyn & David Savage would stop at the store and pick up lunch supplies and Gatorade for the team that day. And with the extreme heat and no wind, it was very appreciated. On the second day we bought a 5 gal. cooler with a spout, and a table to put it on. We kept it filled with ice and Gatorade all day, so the guys could fill their bottles with cold drinks. We also had small coolers filled with ice, and the guys would use it to cool their bodies during the day.

After a game, Marcia would begin making sandwiches for the guys with help from Diane Steets and her mother, the Savages, and Joe. It saved the guys from having to walk in the sun to buy greasy food from 'frisbee central'.

Attending Nationals is not all work...
