Saturday began with the Tide taking on Yale. The Tide put up an early lead on Yale and didn't really look back. In the second half Yale was able to put up a few points, but the game was never really close with the Tide taking it 13-7. The second game of the day was Oregon State. OSU opened up a 6-1 lead to start the game. Taylor called a timeout and the team regrouped. Solid play from the veteran core allowed the Tide to go on a 6-0 run to take the half. The Tide rolled from there. The next game against UCSC was never really close. Tim Hand made an amazing grab falling backward. After the game Tim had to be taken to the hospital. We later found out that he had a lacerated kidney. The final game of the day was against the top seed Kansas. The Tide finished the day breaking seed to take the pool and earn a berth in Sunday's power pools.

Sunday the Tide's first game of the day came against regional foe Colorado. The Tide came out fired up from the gates and ripped into a lackluster Colorado team. Taylor grabbed a Callahan right out of the gates, and set the tone for the day. The tide rolled to half 7-1, and then finished out the game 13-3. The next game of the day was against Washington. Washington came out fired up and played hard the entire game; however, the Tide was able to hold them off to win 11-10. The Tide next played UC Davis. The wind began to pick up and Davis set in with a tough zone. The pace of the game slowed down to a stand still. The game was capped before halftime, and the Tide never really had time to mount a comeback. The final game of the day came against top seeded Berkeley. The game remained close for most of the day. While the Tide was down early the team began to play some blistering defense and made it a game. Early on Ian forced a few Ds and then Doug ripped out several monster layout bids. The game was soft-capped before the half, and hard-capped with Berkeley holding an 8-7 lead. The Tide played hard, but after a few poor calls Berkeley was able to put the game away.

Monday morning's pre-quarters was a rematch from Saturday with the Tide playing Kansas. Kansas didn't seemed prepared for the rematch and the Tide opened in an early lead 5-1. Kansas was able to put on a few runs to try and comeback, but was never able to sustain their momentum. The Tide won 13-7. The quarterfinal match-up came against Humboldt. Once again the tide opened an early lead. Eric Dahlke jacked two flicks to Whit and Johnny for goals, and Humboldt didn't look like they could stick with the hard running Tide. However, Humboldt was able to score and then set their zone on the Tide. Once again the pace of the game slowed down and Humboldt began to convert on the Tide's turnovers. With three players over 6'4 Humboldt's zone played very big. The Tide was finally able to score again when a quick swing allowed Mike Brown to jack it down the line to Taylor going deep. With the hard-cap on the Tide trailed 8-7. The Tide forced a turn was not able to convert allowing Humboldt the chance they need to win the game.
